Dubai has just been ranked the number one city that foreigners would like to resettle in. This comes after a year of compiling Google search result data. The runners-up on the list included Miami, Paris and New York.
Since 1990, the number of people who live in a country other than their country of citizenship has more than doubled from 128M to 281M, accounting for nearly 4% of the entire world population. This trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down, and, in fact, it seems that more and more people are considering, or at least dreaming, of moving to foreign country.
Over the course of a year, a Remitly study analysed the search results of more than 160 countries to see where the people are most interested in moving to. What the study found was that an overwhelming number of people were specifically searching for how to relocate to Dubai. The emirate was the number one searched city in 60 countries, beating the other cities by a landslide.
